Our world is unique; it is filled with living things, it has the water, earth, animals, plants, and most in particular the human being – us! The earth we live in is full of life and colors. Life can be seen and also unseen, seen like the plants and animals, unseen like the bacteria’s and viruses amongst our midst. With all these facts that we now know, science is what comes first in our minds, to the most common things that we see to the most bizarre and unexplainable phenomenon, science is the field of study that seeks to explain and understand all of these. At first the scientist may question themselves what, where, when, why and how these things do came to be, and because of this some of life greatest questions were answered thanks to the never ending thirst for knowledge by scientist and researchers.

And for the reason that science has a great fascination in the world that we live in, how life came to be and has continued all these years, they have made a branch dedicated to the study of life and that is biology. The word biology comes from the word bio which in definition is life, so literally it is the study of life. The person’s that have made themselves experts or researchers in this field are called biologists.

Biologist from way back in Leeuwenhoek’s time to the modern biologist’s of today has made use of the microscope. A microscope as an optical device that aids the biologist in doing their studies be it in their laboratories or in field investigations. Microscopes are used in botany – the study of plants, zoology – the study of animals, and most in particular with microbiology which is the study of microorganism, the three of the aforementioned fields are the divisions of biology.

A biological compound microscope is important in biology, not only that it aids in seeing microscopic things, it also helps biologist further study and classify the new discoveries that they have made. They can also use the biological microscope for comparison of specimens or for several experimentations that they would like to conduct on the specimens that they have gathered. A biological compound microscope can have a 400x magnification but still gives you a clear image because it is a high powered type of microscope. This type of microscope is often used to examine prepared slide of tissues or a slice of an organ in an illuminated glass surface, the light that illuminates the specimen is from the light that was condensed by the mirror under the stage. This microscope is also very affordable even for hobbyist or students with tight budgets could afford it.
